The aim of the present article is to analyse the assimilation of a series of ancient Semitic cosmogonic ideas by Islam via Judaism and Christianity, especially through the Aramaic-Arabic influence of the Syriac and Christian Arabic authors. The study focuses on a defective Hadith transmitted by the Andalusī traditionalist ʻAbd al-Malik ibn abīb (d. 852), which presents an old cosmogonic vision of the cosmos.
