Adaptive Stacking Order is a site-specific installation using wood shims to emulate the growth, geometry, and modularity found in nature. Thousands of shims are individually placed against a wall to create repeating radial and interlocking unit forms that are responsive to the parameters of the space. The work was created by Christine Lee, a senior sustainability scholar at Arizona State University, for the group exhibition Biomimicry: Nature Inspired Design at the Gallery at the Tempe Center for the Arts.
