摘要

The government of India has agreed to sell a major stake in state-owned military vehicle manufacturer BEML (formerly Bharat Earth Movers Limited). The move represents the first strategic sale of an Indian defence public sector undertaking (DPSU). BEML said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on 6 January that the "strategic disinvestment" features a stake of 26%. The government currently holds 54.03% of BEML equity, with the remainder owned by investors through shares on the BSE, where it has been listed since the late 1990s.
