US Air Force (USAF) leaders would consider revisiting the number of Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II Joint Strike Fighters that the service plans to buy, but would wait until later in the production run to ensure programme stability. The USAF requirement for 1,763 F-35As is based on numbers to replace legacy aircraft and meet global needs, but such requirements could be revised to meet changing demands.
