The National Navy of Uruguay is negotiating the transfer of up to three Cessna 0-2s (337 Skymasters) from the Chilean Navy, Uruguayan sources have told Jane's. The aircraft, recently decommissioned by the Chilean Navy and replaced by Vulcanair P68 Observer 2 surveillance aircraft, were offered to Uruguay at no cost and now a team of Uruguayan mechanics is set to travel to Chile to check the airframes' condition; the 0-2s would then be accepted if deemed in good overall condition, according to the sources.
