The Singapore Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) has awarded a contract to Singapore Technologies Engineering Ltd (ST Engineering) for the production and supply of a new armoured fighting vehicle (AFV), the ministry announced on 22 March. "The Next Generation Armoured Fighting Vehicle will be the mainstay of the Singapore Armed Forces' (SAF's) mechanised forces, operating alongside the Bionix infantry fighting vehicle, to fulfil the SAF's operational requirements," said the MINDEF, adding that the vehicle "will provide our armoured forces with enhanced firepower, protection, mobility, and situ-ational awareness".
