The UK and the European Union may be uncoupling, but it is in the interest of all parties to ensure that there is no drift from our Continental neighbours in matters of defence. As the security threat grows, the common defence interests of the UK and Europe converge more closely than ever and the value of co-operation has never been greater, both within NATO and with non-NATO allies. The UK and Europe need each other, with mutual interests ranging from the strategic to the industrial.
