The Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has invited revised com-mercial bids from two shortlisted local private companies to build four landing platform dock (LPD) vessels for the Indian Navy (IN) in a programme worth around INR200 billion (USD3.11 billion). Official sources told Jane's that Reliance Defence and Engineer-ing Limited (RDEL) and Larsen & Toubro (L&T), which had secured the IN's financial and technical approval in late 2016, are expected to re-submit their bids for the four 20,000-tonne LPDs by the end of May.
