US President Donald Trump's support for a Saudi-led effort to force Qatar into line has shown no signs of disrupting operations at Al-Udeid Air Base: the US Air Force's most important base in the region. Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced on 5 June that they were cutting diplomatic ties as well as air and land links with Qatar in response to what they claimed was its support for terrorism and close relations with Iran. Doha denies it supports terrorism, but has backed the Muslim Brotherhood movement and taken little action against alleged Al-Qaeda financiers.
