The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCIA) stands on the rasp of several major changes in 2017. Presiding over these changes will be Kevin Scheid, the agency's new general manager, who took over the position on 1 July from his Dutch predecessor, Koen Gijsbers. Not only will the NCIA be the first NATO entity to move into the alliance's new headquarters later this year, where it will oversee the testing and implementation of the site's high-end security and information systems, the agency also has to execute a huge multi-billion-euro IT modernisation budget for the alliance while reforming its acquisition rules to speed up the buy-in of cyber capabilities and draw in more IT innovation from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
