In the UK government's Spring Budget 2017, GBP27.5 billion (USD37.2 billion) was allocated to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for fiscal year 2018. A significant proportion of this figure will be invested in the development of innovative military tools and technologies. Recent times have seen a significant global shift within defence departments, with substantial financial resources now being funnelled into the research and development of a militarised Internet of Things (IoT). As a result, we are beginning to see increasingly connected - and more lethal - weapon systems and personnel materialise.
