The recent handover to the Indian Navy (IN) of its first Long-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (LR-SAM) highlighted the prominent position that Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has achieved in India's defence market, according to the company's Executive Director of International Sales and Marketing, Shalom Revivo. Developed by IAI in collaboration with Israeli and Indian entities, the LR-SAM system is a strong representation of the strategy that,IAI is pursuing to achieve further expansion in India, Revivo told Jane's. "India and Israel have established long and prosperous relations over many years," he said. "IAI has been working with Indian defence [companies] and the Indian armed forces for the past 25 years as part of collaboration across a variety of fields," Revivo continued. "IAI's systems, such as unmanned aerial vehicles [UAVs], radars, special-mission aircraft, and air-defence systems, have been in use for many years in India with full satisfaction [experienced] by our customers."
