Japan is laying the groundwork for defence and security sales across Southeast Asia through efforts to secure inter-government defence equipment and technology agreements with regional countries, a senior official from the Japanese Ministry of Defense's Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics Agency (ATLA) told Jane's on 8 November.
