South Korea's Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) has signed a contract with Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) to formalise the company's development of the Korean Fighter Experimental (KFX) aircraft. DAPA said on 28 December that under the terms of the deal -worth around KRW8.7 trillion (USD7.4 billion) -KAI is contracted to complete the development of the KFX by mid-2026 and produce the initial batch of aircraft by 2028.
