摘要

Chile's plans to replace its 'FASat Charlie' surveillance satellite have been approved and the estimated investment is USD130 million, according to Marcos Robledo, Chile's deputy secretary of defence. The plans include installation of a second ground station in the country's southern area to receive imagery from the satellite, Robledo said in mid-January. 'FASat Charlie' was launched in 2011; it was built by EADS (now Airbus Group) and provided a surveillance tool with mixed civilian and military uses. It is operated by the Chilean Air Force. As with Chile's previous three satellites it is expected that the Copper Law will finance the 'FASat Charlie'replacement.
