Cameroon's elite Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) received its first combat aircraft in mid-February when the first of two refurbished Mi-24 attack helicopters arrived from Russia to Douala, where it is being assembled, a Cameroonian military source has told IHS Jane's. The second is expected to arrive later this year. The aircraft were expected in early October 2015, a Cameroonian officer told IHS Jane's, but the fitting of new weapon systems and avionics resulted in a delay.
