Six Indian companies submitted their proposals to the Ministry of Defence (MoD) on 15 February for the Indian Army's INR1 trillion (USD 14.92 billion) Future Combat Infantry Vehicle (FICV) programme. Five of these were private-sector manufacturers, all of whom have formed consortia with other local companies and forged technology tie-ups with foreign vendors to develop a tracked, amphibious, and air transportable 20-tonne FICV prototype.
