Russia is continuing to integrate the Crimean defence industry into its own industrial base, with a meeting of the Russian Military-Industrial Commission on 12 February reporting to President Vladimir Putin on the size, scale, and progress made in the peninsula since its annexation in 2014. According to Putin, there are 21 defence-industrial companies operating in the Crimea: 14 involved in shipbuilding, three in aircraft manufacturing, two in radio electronics, and two in conventional arms production.
