The US Army will postpone its plan to scale back the Alaska-based 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team Airborne, 25th Infantry Division (4/25 BCT Airborne) in order to maintain response capabilities. The 4/25 BCT Airborne is "ready to rapidly deploy and conduct decisive operations in urban and mountainous environments", Acting Secretary of the Army Patrick Murphy said in a 21 March statement. "Given continued Russian aggression, the nuclear provocations of North Korea, and the continued threat from ISIL [the Islamic State], we need this capability," he added.
