Alongside enduring price differences between India and France over the deal for 36 Dassault Rafale fighters for the Indian Air Force (IAF), sharp differences have again resurfaced over offsets. According to official sources, the Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD) recently rejected Thales' offer of discharging a 'substantial' portion of the mandatory 50% offset requirement of the overall Rafale contract price by helping India develop three 'smart cities'.
