Italian defence company Finmec-canica has now formally adopted its new name, Leonardo, the company announced on 28 April. The company said the name change had been approved by more than 99% of shareholders at their annual meeting. The new name is a reference to Italian polymath Leonardo da Vinci. "There is no area of Finmeccanica's business that has not found in Leonardo da Vinci a careful scholar, driven by scientific curiosity and the desire to face unexplored scenarios," the company said in a press release.
