US officials are working to ensure that military aid given to Israel is spent on US products, according to a 1 July letter to US senators by National Security advisor Susan Rice and director of the Office of Management and Budget Shaun Donovan. The letter, a copy of which was obtained by IHS Jane's, was sent to most US senators in a response to a request from democrat Christopher Coons of Delaware as to the status of negotiations between the US and Israel over a 10-year military aid package. The letter was not released publicly, but was unclassified.
