The Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) signed 17 contracts worth RUB130 billion (USD2 billion) with local industry at this month's Army 2016 show outside Moscow, according to Deputy Defence Minister Yuri Borisov. The largest contracts were for shipbuilding, with one, worth RUB27 billion, being for three additional Project 21631 (Buyan-M-class) guided missile corvettes. These will be built by the 'Maxim Gorky' Zelenodolsk Shipyard, which already has four Buyan-Ms on order and to date has delivered five Project 21631 ships to the Russian Navy: three for the Caspian Flotilla and two for the Black Sea Fleet.
