The week-long ceasefire that began in Syria on 12 September was quickly extended by another two days, but there is still no sign of military co-operation between the United States and Russia. When Russian and US officials announced the ceasefire between Syrian government forces and US-backed anti-government rebels, they said their countries would create a Joint Implementation Centre (JIC) to share targeting information to strike Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra) and Islamic State fighters if it held.
