Turkish prime minister Binali Yildirim stated on 1 November that he had given the go-ahead for 26 different local defence projects worth a total of USD4.1 billion and that Turkey's first batch of Lockheed Martin F-35A Joint Strike Fighters will be received in 2018 instead of 2021. In addition to this, a statement issued at the end of an executive committee meeting of Turkey's Undersecretariat for Defense Industries (SSM) on 28 October, which was chaired by Yildirim, said that a second batch of F-35s is expected in 2021/22.
