The French Parliament has approved a EUR600 million (USD642 million) increase to the country's defence budget above current-year levels. In total the 2017 budget will sit at EUR32.44 billion: a 1.8% increase over 2016. This is the latest in upward revisions of the French defence budget, with the new 2017 figures about EUR1.1 billion higher than was envisaged by the 2014-2019 Military Programming Law (LPM) and EUR775 million higher than the revised LPM of July 2015. About EUR250 million of'exceptional income' is included in the new budget figures, set to be sourced by land and property sales.
