Tensions between India and Pakistan have further escalated after a group of heavily armed militants attacked an Indian Army (IA) camp in the northern state of Jammu and Kashmir on 29 November, killing seven soldiers, including two officers. IA spokesman Manish Mehta told IHS Jane's that the incident began in the early morning hours when four gunmen disguised as policemen attacked the officers' mess of an artillery unit at Nagrota cantonment - located 11 km from the state's winter capital, Jammu - using grenades and assault rifles.
