The Pakistan Army and the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) have established a rare level of co-operation in seeking to track down Maulana Fazlullah, head of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), in a sign of converging bilateral security interests. Signs of growing co-operation on this front have coincided with the end of US-led combat missions in Afghanistan on 31 December. Pakistan's intelligence officials have told IHS Jane's that Fazlullah is hiding either in Afghanistan's Kunar province or another area along the border with Pakistan. "In recent days we have exchanged information daily [between the Afghan army and the Pakistan army] as both of our countries are determined to co-operate in hunting him down," one Pakistani intelligence official said.
