The US State Department has cleared the sale of General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc (GA-ASI) MQ-9 Reaper medium-altitude, longendurance (MALE) unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to the Netherlands, it was announced on 6 February. The government of the Netherlands has requested a possible sale of four Reaper vehicles; four mobile ground control stations (Block 50); two spare engines; two satellite communications subsystems; six AN/DAS-1 Multi-Spectral Targeting Systems (MTS)-B; four GA-ASI Lynx (exportable) synthetic-aperture radar/ ground moving target indicator (SAR/ GMTI) systems with maritime wide area search capability; as well as ancillary communications and navigation systems.
