The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has named a preferred bidder to manage and exploit the Marchwood Sea Mounting Centre in southern England following a competition that was launched in 2014. Solent Gateway Limited - a joint venture of port and shipping services operator GBA Holdings and Scottish government-owned ferry operator David MacBrayne Limited - has been chosen to operate the 91-hectare facility, which is the home port for the Royal Fleet Auxiliary and army vessels run by the Royal Logistics Corps (RLC). It is currently operated by the RLC's 17 Port and Maritime Regiment.
