An Amphibious Combat Vehicle (ACV) remains a top priority for the US Marine Corps (USMC) as planners seek to secure 10 infantry battalions-worth of 'armoured lift'. The corps revisited its ship-to-shore manoeuvre plans last year and determined to buy an Amphibious Combat Vehicle Phase 1 Increment 1 (ACV 1.1), based on the former Marine Personnel Carrier, as a 'non-developmental' wheeled ACV, while upgrading 392 AAV7A1 Assault Amphibious Vehicles (AAVs).
