The US Navy (USN) will not start a new programme of record for the acquisition of a navy variant of Bell-Boeing's V-22 Osprey tiltrotor to replace the C-2A Greyhound Carrier Onboard Delivery (COD) platform, officials told IHS Jane's on 2 April. "The navy already has an existing programme of record with the V-22, so we decided to pursue our current acquisition strategy of funding that existing programme of record because it is the long-term solution with the least risk and best value in meeting the 2024 Defense Strategic Guidance and beyond COD capability requirement," Commander Thurraya Kent, spokesperson for the USN's acquisition chief, told IHS Jane's.
