Brazilian Defence Minister Jaques Wagner signed a joint agreement on South American security co-operation with Agustin Rossi, his Argentinian counterpart, on 7 April. The meeting, Wagner's first official foreign engagement in the post, saw the two countries reaffirm their commitment to both increased regional integration and bilateral defence industrial collaboration. The two defence ministers made a joint statement to the Union of South American Nations' (UNASUR's) Council of South American Defence, highlighting "significant partnership" in development of projects such as the Embraer KC-390 transport aircraft and UNASUR 1 basic trainer.
