South Africa approved just under ZAR3 billion (USD250 million) in defence exports in 2014, a slight decrease on the ZAR3.2 billion approved in 2013, according to a report by the National Conventional Arms Control Committee (NCACC) released in March. The report lists 2,418 contracts with 88 countries that were approved in 2014. The armoured vehicle sector fared best, exporting 326 armoured personnel carriers (APCs) to a variety of nations, four Husky mine-detection vehicles to Iraq, six APC hulls to Uganda, and 11 turrets to Malaysia, with a total value of some ZAR1.2 billion.
