Raytheon revealed on 23 April that Saudi Arabia had awarded it a contract worth over USD2 billion to deliver additional Patriot air defence systems. The company announced the contract on 17 April, but did not identify the customer until six days later. The initial Raytheon press release said the direct commercial sale included "fully digitised new-production Patriot fire units with the latest technology for improved threat detection, identification and engagement" and a full training and support package. A Raytheon spokesperson told IHS Jane's that the company could not reveal further details about the contract.
