The Philippines Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) has awarded a contract to supply 10 multirole response vessels (MRRVs) for the Philippine Coast Guard to Japan Marine United (JMU), the DOTC announced on 20 April. The contract is valued at PHP8.8 billion (USD200 million), with PHP7.4 billion sourced through Tokyo's foreign aid mechanism - the Official Development Assistance (ODA) programme - and a related loan from the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA). The remaining PHP1.4 billion will come from the Philippine government.
