The Czech Ministry of Defence (MoD) is in the final stages of expanding the role and operational capabilities of the Army of the Czech Republic's (ACR's) special forces in order to better meet the defence and security challenges faced by NATO in light of the conflict in Ukraine. Apart from the 601st Special Forces Group based in Prostejov, which comprises the core strength of the service's special forces capabilities and has been repeatedly deployed for special operations in Afghanistan since 2008, the ACR intends to create and assign additional units for special operations support.
