The Conflict Armament Research (CAR) organisation released a report on 2 June in which it strongly suggested that Sudan was airdropping military materiel to rebels in South Sudan. The report was based on evidence gathered by a team of CAR investigators that visited the South Sudanese military (SPLA) headquarters in Malakal in December 2014 and was shown ammunition and weapons that were purportedly captured when rebel positions in Pigi country were overrun the month before.
