The Philippines has introduced additional procurement reforms to promote accelerated acquisitions across all government agencies, including the Department of National Defense (DND), and encourage more efficient public spending. An announcement made on 9 June calls on government departments to create "procurement support units" to assist the Bids and Awards Committees (BACs), which are attached to each department. The measures also enable the government's larger departments, such as the DND, to establish additional BACs depending on requirements.
