Sweden has offered to collaborate with India on licence-building fighters and submarines via an inter-governmental agreement, India's Ministry of Defence (MoD) said on 11 June. The offer was made in talks between Swedish defence minister Peter Hultqvist and his Indian counterpart, Manohar Parrikar, in Delhi and involves Saab's Gripen E fighter and Kockums' Gotland-class diesel-electric submarine. "The issue of participation of Swedish firms in defence manufacturing in India under the 'Make in India' initiative was discussed," a MoD statement said. "The two sides agreed to continue to explore opportunities for enhancing co-operation.
