The Indian Army has invited responses by 31 July to a global request for information (Rfl) to develop a multi-purpose Future Ready Combat Vehicle (FRCV) to replace its ageing fleet of licence-built Russian T-72M/M1 main battle tanks (MBTs) by 2025-27. The 8 June Rfl stated that the FRCV would form the "base platform" on which a "family of combat vehicles" would be developed. These include light tracked, bridge layer and trawl tanks, self-propelled howitzers (SPHs), air-defence guns, artillery observation post and engineering reconnaissance and wheeled vehicles, as well as armoured ambulances.
