Ceska Zbrojovka (CZ) has presented its new CZ 806 Bren 2 assault rifle to the Czech Armed Forces (ACR). The CZ 806 is the second generation of the CZ 805 introduced into ACR service in 2010 and incorporates several improvements. The new rifle has significant mechanical differences to the earlier rifle, such as a new simplified three-position gas system, a non-reciprocating charging handle, and a hold-open catch for the bolt carrier. It is also about 0.5 kg lighter and has other ergonomic improvements such as improved balance and a new foldable telescopic stock. It also has an enlarged fire selector, a magazine release lever, and all of its controls are ambidextrous. These improvements have been introduced following ACR combat experience with the CZ 805.
