India's defence exports are on track to double in value in fiscal year 2015-16, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said on 16 October. His comments came two days after Ecuador announced plans to terminate a contract related to its import of Indian-made Dhruv Advanced Light Helicopters. Speaking to reporters after a business forum in Goa, Parrikar said India is committed to increasing exports as a means to expand defence relationships with allied countries and to increase economic benefits. He added that "last year [defence] exports amounted to only INR6.3 billion [USD97 million]. This year it should exceed INR12 billion".
