Anatoly Isaikin, the director of Russian state arms export agency Rosoboronexport, has said that work on Iran's S-300 air defence systems has already begun. He also told a 27 October press conference that the negotiations to finalise the deal are continuing, but there are no remaining issues that will prevent the delivery of the systems and that Iran will drop the lawsuit that it brought against Russia at the International Court of Arbitration for cancelling the original S-300 contract agreed in 2007. The type of S-300 system and number of batteries that Iran will receive have yet to be officially identified, but Russian media reports have indicated that less than five S-300V4 batteries will be delivered.
