Finland has requested 240 missiles for its Lockheed Martin M270 Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS), the US Defence Security Cooperation Agency (DCSA) announced on 11 November. Worth an estimated US0150 million the proposed sale includ.es 40 MRLS missile pods, training, spares and logistics. Of these 15 will be armed with the M31A1 Unitary Missile (90 in total), and 25 with the M30A1 Alternative Warhead Missile (150 in total). Both have a range of some 45 miles. Finland acquired 22 MLRS launchers from the Netherlands in 2006 for nearly USD50 million and subsequently spent USD43 million on systems upgrades.
