The United Kingdom's new defence review, published on 23 November, has assigned an extra GBP12 billion (USD18.2 billion) for defence procurement over the next decade. This extra funding will be spent on nine new Boeing P-8 Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft (MPAs), an accelerated adoption of the Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF), and a life extension and upgrade of the Royal Air Force's Eurofighter Typhoons. In total the 20IS Strategic Defence and Security Review (SDSR) earmarks GBP178 billion for defence procurement and maintenance between 2015 and 2025.
