The US Navy (USN) has outlined plans for the deployment of its second and third Littoral Combat Ships (LCS), although the USN's surface forces commander reiterated on 6 January that the ships' priority remains operational testing of LCS mission packages. USS Fort Worth (LCS 3) is the next LCS expected to deploy, following lead ship USS Freedom's (LCS 1) completion of its 10-month deployment to Southeast Asia. Fort Worth is currently conducting operational testing (OT) of the LCS surface warfare (SUW) mission package off the coast of California.
