The US Coast Guard (USCG) is to receive 14 Alenia Aermacchi C-27J Spartan transport aircraft that are being offloaded by the US Air Force (USAF), the company disclosed in early January. The transfer, which was approved by Congress on 19 December and signed into law on 26 December, will see the aircraft inducted into the USCG for operations beginning "in the next six to 12 months", Alenia said.
