Cost overruns of GBP754 million on the UK project to build two Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers (USD1.25 billion) were the most salient feature to emerge from the annual Major Projects Report published by the UK National Audit Office (NAO) on 13 February. In its study of the 11 largest UK defence procurement projects, the NAO said that, with the exception of the aircraft carriers, the Ministry of Defence's (MoD's) largest projects have not shown significant increases in costs over the year and only small in-year delays.
