The United States has confirmed its decision to suspend military aid to Thailand as well as cancel a range of military-to-military engagements with the country in response to the coup d'etat on 22 May. US Department of State deputy spokesperson Marie Harf said in a statement on 23 May that the US government had suspended USD3.5 million in Foreign Military Financing and International Military Education and Training funding. She added that Washington is "reviewing all programmes to determine other assistance, which we may suspend". The US Department of State also confirmed on 24 May the cancellation of a range of US-Thailand military engagements.
